Rabbi Marc and Phillip Labowitz have been instrumental in the Jewish Community since the 1970's. Recently, I was asked to create a piece of art that would capture the Rabbis' contributions to our community.

Of  course, I responded with a heartfelt YES!! And here's why. January 3, 1976,that's the day on which I became a Bar Mitzvah. Before that, Rabbi Phillip had taken me under his wings with his warm smile and loving embrace. He had been a pillar in my Jewish life from a young age, culminating for me on that special day in January.

Now, some 48 years later, I found myself in the home of Rabbi Marc.  Once again, I was surrounded by the warmth of that family. Along with Rabbi Marc and his dad, whom he called "Pop" throughout our creative session, there was Marc's  beautiful wife Paulina.  Paulina was so warm and welcoming me into their home. As I walked into their home on a desk was a beautiful portrait of the late Shoni Labowitz, Rabbi Phillip's wife and Marc's mom which captured her infectious smile.
